Todd is a Whopping 6 Years Old

Today is Toddy's Birthday! I can't believe my little guy is 6 years old.

Update: Todd is doing really well in school. He is buzzing right along with his homework folder and will soon be reading books. He is still working with his speech therapist, but his speech as come such a long way. We are so proud of his hard work in speech and in school. He has matured so much in just the past few months. He is smart and witty, we get a kick out of his thinking and his "one liners". It is such a joy to be able to hear him express himself. He is a hard worker and loves to be busy doing something.

Thinking back a year ago today: I was reminded of an experience we had last year on Todd's b-day. It is just a reminder that there are really cool people in this world.

Last year Ken was out of work on Todd's b-day and had been for 3 months. Money was tight, but we wanted to buy Todd a new scooter. With the money that his grandparents had sent it would pay for half of it, leaving the other half for Ken and I to pay for. We took Todd to Walmart on his birthday to pick out his scooter. While there we ran into about 6 people we knew, one of which was an old friend from a previous ward. We hadn't seen each other for a few years and began catching up on life. I had mentioned that Ken was out of work, she could easily sympathize because her husband had been in the same situation the year before. We chatted then went our separate ways. Until we met each other again in the check out line. She was acting a little strange, but I couldn't quite figure out what she was up to until we were all rang up and she jumped in front of credit card machine and paid for our purchase. The bill was over $60.00 with the cake, scooter, other misc. items. She explained that she knew how if felt to be out of work and she was in a position to help. I couldn't believe it. It was all I could to not start bawling in the middle of Walmart. I was so grateful.

That story warmed my heart last year and warms my heart again today as I think about the many wonderful people we call friends.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TODDY MAN! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!I hope you have a wonderful day and feel so special, because you truly are!
