My computer's fixed!

Well not actually fixed, but I bought a new one. So, I'm back baby! Only there is one problem...we are moving on Saturday so I have no time to blog. I have boxes stacked every where and it's only going to get worse, not to mention the cleaning. Oh, yuck! I'm going to be busy. Tomorrow I will find time to do my gratitude journal...because I know you all look forward to it. :) JK

Emily-I read your comment. It is so good to hear from you! Let's get together! I'll get in touch when my computer is back up.

My Gratitude Journal - Sept.8th-14th

I feel like I'm over flowing in gratitude this week, my heart feels full. Here are a few things on the top of my list.

* Nearly two weeks ago at my doctors appt. my midwife sent me home to do a 24 hr. urine sample and blood work to check for toxemia. She said no news is good news so I was thrilled when a week went by and I didn't hear anything. I was about to blog about my success when the phone rang, it was my Dr.'s office. The nurse said, "Dr. Young wants to talk to you about your lab results, can you come in this afternoon?" Oh, crap! I felt like a naughty kid being sent to the principals office. I stewed about what was wrong for several hours. It didn't help that I had a headache and felt awful that day. I convinced myself that I was going to put on bed rest and I would swell up like a helium balloon. When I went to my appt. I was the only person there, usually there is a swarm of waddling women. My appt. was going totally like normal, I got weighed, pee-ed in a cup, got my blood pressure checked. My doctor came in, measured my belly and asked, "So do you have any questions?" Uh, ya, why am I here I thought. But, instead I said, "Uh, ya, just wondering about my lab work?" So he opens my chart, looks at the labs and says, "looks good, every thing is fine". Okay then, again I think-why am I here. After sweating bullets for no good reason everything was fine. And I am grateful. Next week I have an ultrasound scheduled to find out how big this guy is...I have a feeling I may be giving birth to a toddler.

* As you know we are getting ready to move...We have had so many kind offers to help pack, clean or watch the kids. We have friends stopping by bringing boxes. As you can see the packing is going well...we are grateful for such great friends.

As I think about the house and try to contain my excitement until it is officially ours, I think I am most excited about the laundry room. Yes, I know that sounds extremely exciting. Laundry is my nightmare never ending chore, but in this house the laundry is on the main floor (not the basement which I try to avoid as much as possible) and it has a laundry shoot from the upstairs I can toss all the laundry through. See, now do you feel excited for me? I am grateful.

*I got roses and chocolate for my anniversary. Ken and I had a really fun "trailer date". We get to go on dates ever week and we were just out the night before, our regular babysitter was unavailable so we decided to have a date night at home. After getting the kids in bed we got some dinner, munchies, and a movie and went out to the trailer. We had peace and quiet and it was cozy and fun. Dinner and a movie in a trailer may not sound really romantic, but it was a nice change. It was a perfect day.

*Last weekend was Regional/Stake Conference. I loved the messages, and can still feel the spirit of those meetings. The Saturday evening session I squirmed around like a little kid trying to sit still. My back and butt were killing me from sitting in those hard chairs, still it was a great meeting. One of the ladies in our ward took pitty on me and started to massage my back and arms, I wanted to close my eyes and slide right off my chair it felt so nice. I was grateful. Sunday was Ken's birthday and I know both of us were debating staying home. We were both exhausted and the thought of taking six kids to conference for over two hours did not sound appealing. But neither did staying home, we both knew we would end up feeling awful for not going, plus I was looking forward to hearing the speakers. We went and I again squirmed around, I was so uncomfortable. I love the talks, and was so grateful to be there. The four older kids did great, and the younger two did great for the first hour, then it became a struggle and Ken ended up taking Todd and McKenna home about 1/2 hour early. When I got home physically I felt so bad that I started to cry. I asked Ken why doing the right thing has to be so hard. I was hoping that the spirit of the meeting would be so strong that I wouldn't feel the physical discomfort. I was wrong. Ken replied by saying, "Doing the right thing is always hard, Nancy". I have thought about that a lot this week. The Lord didn't say it would be easy, He only said it would be worth it. That is how I feel about Stake Conference and so much of what life is all about. I was miserably uncomfortable, however it didn't last forever. But, the messages I heard and the spirit I felt can last forever. It was worth it, and I am grateful.

There are many more little things that I am grateful for...too many to mention. I am blessed.

A Great Anniversary Present!

We got a call from our Realtor this afternoon letting us know that our offer on a home in Orem has been accepted. We will be moving just about 6 blocks to the west. We are so excited! This is our new home (almost :)). It has 5 bedrooms and 4 baths-2 are 1/2 baths. Ken will have the rec. room that he has always wanted. He has informed us all that the basement is off limits to everyone but him and his guy buddies. Whatever! The rest of the house is mine!

Eleven Years of Bliss

Eleven years ago today Ken and I were married. Here's a few of the happenings in our lives over the past 11 years....

* We've had 6 almost 7 children
* We've had at least 10 different jobs
* We've been in school for 7 years, with a least 3 different majors
* We've moved 7, soon to be 8 times. We've lived in two different states. (Utah & New Mexico)
* We've owned a least 9 vehicles
* We've opened and closed a business (Ken owned Elite Deliveries and Installations for three years)
* Our family has had 4 broken bones, 1 seizure, 7 trips to the ER for stitches, 4 surgeries, one 8 day hospital stay, and a handful of other ER visits. (I promise we don't beat our children, we only joke about it!)
* We've had times of plenty, and times of not so plenty
* We've seen Grandparents, Uncles, Cousins and other loved ones pass away. We also had many nieces and nephews born.
* I can only think of a handful of days we have spent apart.
* We've had many disagreements and many apologies

We have had many ups and downs though the years. Some times have been rough, but we have been blessed more than I can even begin to count. I thank my loving Father in Heaven for the trials that have helped to strengthen us and helped us to grow together, for answers to our prayers, for the opportunity to raise this beautiful family we've made together, and for a wonderful husband who works so hard to provide for his family, to teach his children, and to serve others.
Ken truly is my best friend. I am looking forward to our next eleven years, and the next after that, and the next after that, and the next after that...FOREVER.

The Birthday Guy...

On Sunday Ken turned 35! I must admit Ken may have been a little disappointed on his birthday, he didn't get the Wii, or the big screen TV, or the remote control helicopter that he wanted. However, it wasn't all bad he did get new deodorant, lotion, a guilt free nap, and a full body massage compliments of the kids and I. Here's a few pictures of the Old Man....Oh, I mean Birthday Boy!
Happy Birthday, We love you so much!

My Gratitude Journal - Sept. 1st- 7th

I have many things to be grateful for this week, but for now I am only going to focus on one. I know that my Father in Heaven hears and answers prayers. Ken and I were prompted just last night to rethink buying the home in Lehi. We prayer together, individually, and with our children. The Lord very clearly answered our prayers that buying that home at this time is NOT the right thing for our family. This morning we withdrew our offer and WE WILL NOT BE MOVING TO LEHI. Is my heart crushed? No! I feel like maybe it should be, because up until yesterday we had every intention of moving at the end of the month. But, my heart feels lighter and we feel at peace. Half my house is in boxes, I have no decorations on the walls, and we are completely back to square one, but it feels so right. We don't no why, and I'm not going to question the Lord. He knows better than I do what we need. I am so grateful for the Holy Ghost and for a loving Heavenly Father who answers prayers.

Side note: Ken and I looked at a home in Orem today that both of us just love. My kids would even get to go to their same school. I don't know what will happen, but I'll just leave it in the Lords hands.

Updates...Ramblings...and other stuff.

It feels like it's been a long time since I've blogged...The Monday holiday through off my schedule and I neglected my weekly gratitude journal...so here is an update on the happening of the Roberts family.

*We got our offer accepted from the bank for the house in Lehi. We will be MOVING! It's not 100% for sure until papers are signed so I am having a hard time soaking it all in. We are excited, scared, overwhelmed, and feeling blessed all rolled together. We should close by the end of September. Wow, crazy! My head is spinning with all the TO-DO's. We have started packing already....being pregnant I figure I better get a head start. I don't move as quick as I used to, and OH, I get so tired.

*Ken started back to school PT at UVU this week. He is taking online classes. For the passed year and a half since Ken has been serving in the bishopric we have made no progress in school. I guess FT work, FT school, a big calling, 6 kids, and a pregnant wife is a pretty heavy load. So we are remedying that by moving. Just Kidding! Now he'll just have FT work, PT school, hopefully no big callings, a move, 6 kids, and a newborn half way through the semester, and a sleep deprived wife. Pray for us!

*Labor Day Weekend....Saturday me and my sisters spent an all girls day out playing...we garage saled (we found an awesome scrapbook sale! Yeah, for us!)...we ate Chinese...went to Swiss Days...and then off to the Factory Stores at Park City. My feet were killing me by the end of the day, but it was so much fun. We haven't played together for a long time, let's do it more often! Sunday we went to Ann's in Park City for a family get together. The cousins play so nice together and always look forward to seeing each other. The adults were able to get in a game of battle of the sexes, the guys won, but only because my brothers are girly-men. Heather brought it to my attention that I didn't say good-bye to anyone, SORRY! Ken was on his death bed and I was getting 'THE LOOK' that said 'get in the truck NOW'. We had a great time. Ann dinner was awesome. So everyone Goodbye-and Thanks for a great weekend. Monday Ken was supposed to go paint-balling with the guys, but as I mentioned he was on his death bed and decided to sleep in. Guys are such wimps! If men could be pregnant I think they would die. I would give Ken three days. Wimps I say, total wimps!

Okay, I have to go get Emma ready for school, so I must be off...Ta Ta For Now!
