Yesterday I discovered a whole new side of blogging...and honestly...I don't get it!
But first let me explain why I blog...I love record keeping. I scrapbook and I keep many different journals (not faithfully). For me these things are a way for me to do my family history. I love blogging because I can record the everyday, the random, the important and the unimportant, anything I want and it's so easy! I blog about things I would never take the time to scrapbook (this for instance). I love that I can keep up to date with my friends and family and they can keep up with me. But mostly I just blog for ME. It is a nice release for me when I get to rant & rave, and when I am not ranting and raving it gives me a chance to reflect on how seriously blessed I am.
Which brings me to the reason for this post...Yesterday I was doing a little blog surfing...I ran across a popular blog called "Seriously so Blessed". It made me think of me sister who is a self-proclaimed hater of those "perfect family" blogs. Which is why I think she boycotted mine. I'll know if she doesn't leave me a comment. I'll KNOW, Heather! Anyway...I got a little side tracked...back to "Seriously so Blessed"...I got curious and began to read...Whoa, this lady is funny, I thought. A little weird (she spells funny) and probably a little too racy for me (she watches reality TV, with her husband and calls it FHE)...then oh, look...little baby twin widgets floating around on the side, how exciting, I thought. Then I read on...And guess what!...It's all fake...everything...it's probably written by some old, bald, fat guy with a great sense of humor. It's just a funny spoof on mormon women, and mormon women love it... Why, I ask?...I'm really not getting it. Am I just an uptight, perfect mormon mom wanna-be, who needs to lighten up? Okay, nobody answer that question! But somebody please explain...What is the point?
Heather and Aunty Em I am expecting a comment, because I know you two know about this stuff...anyone else please enlighten...are all the funny ones fake? Please...I need some reality if I'm going to read about someone elses crazy life and feel any sort of relief...or better yet maybe I'll stick to my own blog list...some of my friends and family have enough "REAL" crazy to make me feel just fine. ;)

I don't know, girl. I usually stick to blogs of people I know personally. Most of those people are normal gals like me with a messy house that looks like a gigantic toy box has been dumped out and never gets cleaned up. I do have a few friends who manage to keep things perfect...if I didn't know them personally I'd probably wonder if they were real or not. But they are, mostly. :)
Just ignore the weirdo blogs. :)
I've run across that blog before. It took me just a couple of entries to realize that it was a joke. But it did make me laugh :)
I like to go peaking around other people's blog's, but I never thought that some fat bald guy could be making things up. How do you know that it's made up? If this is true, I'm in an illusion myself. I wish I had more answers for you. I'm finding though on my blog that no one comments. I sometimes go on just to see the comments. Ohh well I guess I'm not loved any more.
She's got the same diease that I do....we are sick of people that are dillusional with the "MOLLY MADNESS"....its not a fat bald guy writing it...at least I hope not....But as often as you have read it on my blog...its sickening to read that every day the birds are chearping and there life is a disney movie. I understand that people want to remember the good things that happen....BUT really come on now! I have read that blog quite often....but I tend to stick with the "feel good" "I suck as a mom but I am trying kinda blogs"
And no your blog is not vetoed....I talk to you enough to know that you are scrapbook blogging and I know that your a stressed mom of 7....That helps....
Seriously!!!! remove the stupid quiz at the end....I HATE THEM!!!
I have not seen the fake blog so I don't know if I'm going to make any sense but here is my opinion. I think its probably one of those love it or hate it kind of blogs. When you discover its a fake you either...love it, because of the person's sense of humor and the fact that they are saying that no one is perfect so stop judging yourself aginst others, lighten up, and have a good laugh. Or...you'll hate it because it's pointless to read a blog that is totally made up. If there is no reality in the blog what's the point. There are much better, real, blogs out there that your time would be better spent reading.
I don't know if that explanation helps, but I'm with you. I wouldn't read it because if I want to learn about a fake life I'll just pop in a movie. It would be a lot more entertaining and worth my time because I already knew it was fake before getting in to it.
Shelly, you are so insightful!
Hi Nancy-I can't believe there are people out there that write fake blogs! What a waste of time! I only have time to read my friends blogs myself. I have such a limited amount of time to be on the computer-youknow the drill. I love reading yours because I can keep up to date with what you are doing. I miss you so much.
Nancy - don't worry. For me it is simply another form of entertainment. SSB is fake, and so creative at the same time. I saw an interview with the author of the seriously so blessed blog (they blacked her out, you could only hear her voice) & I'm just totally impressed with her creativity/imagination - plus she's making some pretty good $ doing it.
Some of the things that people come up with amazes me. I don't read hers religiously (I don't even write mine religiously anymore) but I do read it once in a while for a good laugh. I do look forward to reading yours and other friends blogs on a regular basis because those are real & I like to know what's going on with your life.
I'm nosy.
To me, it's fun.
BTW - I love your blog.
