The Things People Say...

Okay, the people I am referring to is my family. Here are a snippet of three different conversations in my house yesterday.

Conversation: 1
Setting: Ken and I eating lunch

Ken: Uh, I was just wondering...are those my jeans? (He was referring to the jeans I was wearing)

Me: thinking-As if! Like I could fit into your jeans. Whatever! But aren't you nice for thinking I could. Instead of saying what I was thinking, I pulled up my shirt to show him the stylish maternity panel in the front of MY jeans. That convinced him I hadn't raided his closet that morning.

Side note: Ken has gained more weight than I have during this pregnancy. I made a goal to gain at least two pounds this week because so far I have gained nothing which actually had me worried. I can now report that I have gained a pound which I am actually thrilled about. I have Ken outweighed by 6 lbs. that is our closest spread since I met his skinny little 144lb. body over 16 years ago. Thank you Pepsi and Symphony bars-you've made it possible for me to maybe weigh less than my husband someday!

Conversation:2
Setting: Sydney, Kaylie, Tyler, & Emma in the kitchen getting ready for dinner. Me: Being a fly on the wall.

Tyler: I don't know how I'd ever live without Mary Pope Osborne.

Kaylie: I don't know how I'd ever live without...(she responds with her list of favorite authors)

The rest of the kids join in with their favorite books and authors. It sounded like a mini literary conference. I had to go in the other room and chuckle a little bit, I thought it was so cute.

Conversation 3:
Setting: Todd and I in the kitchen at the end of the day. Me: Wearing no make-up, with my hair not done.

Todd: Mom, tomorrow you've got to do your hair.

Translation: Mom, you look like crap!

Me: Thank you, Toddy! :)

So hilarious! I love those. You have very well read children as well as very honest children! Right now, my kids are at the "honest" phase and I always feel like they are telling me to get dressed for the day or make my hair "not so bumpy". Gotta love it!

This is so darling, Nancy! You are so good at writing things down! So cute of Todd! Love that guy.. I can relate to the not ever getting close to your husband's weight. I think I passed Mike up in my 4th month of pregnancy with Cason and have never looked back....sheesh.

I love the book conversation! Smart kids you have there. And Happy Anniversary! What would we do without our best friends?
