I Almost Made It

Ken and I have known for a long time that our family was not yet complete. Even before Daric was born we knew he would not be our last. We also knew that it was time to start planning for that last little baby to join our family. Eight was the plan, number nine just decided to hitch a ride because it knew it was now or never. I'm glad for unexpected surprises! ANYWAYS....We figured after the end of our last semester would be a good time to start trying for our new addition. So, at the end of April I made a trip to my doctor's office to remove my IUD. I also found out that I had high blood pressure. My doctor wanted to put me on medication which I wanted to avoid. I made a deal with him. I told him that I had a goal of losing 20lbs before I got pregnant and asked him to wait on the medication to see if my blood pressure would go down. He agreed.

I left the doctor's office excited to meet this new challenge. My first goal was to lose 6 lbs. the first month. I started walking/jogging and watching what I was eating. I was excited when I exceeded my first goal and lost 12 lbs. the first month. I was thinking that it might take a few months to get pregnant so I was well on my way to meeting my goal. However, I'm not sure what I was thinking because Ken and I only have to holds hands to get pregnant so my plan didn't really workout as planned. It was the beginning of June when we found out we were expecting. I was down 15 lbs., but still had 5 lbs. to go to meet my goal.

I became sick and tired (more like exhausted) very early into this pregnancy and my exercise routine pretty much went to pot. Although, because I have been sick and unable to eat that much I managed to lose another 4 lbs. bringing me to a total of a 19 lb. loss. But that's it folks. That last pound is just not to be (yet)! I discovered that I feel better when I eat even if I don't want to so unless I get violently ill I don't expect to lose anymore weight until these babies make their appearance. BUT, I ALMOST MADE IT! And I'm so glad...my doctor told me to expect to gain at least 40 lbs. with this pregnancy. Starting 19 lbs. lighter will help some anyway. Holy Hannah, I'm going to be HUGE! Whoo-whee! Wish me luck.
