Easter/Conference Weekend

This week I've been doing homework like crazy and haven't had the chance to blog about Easter or conference weekend. I don't have much so say expect it was awesome and I am so grateful to be a member of the church. I'm so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. And for a living Prophet, Pres. Monson.

When I was a kid I thought conference weekend was a day off for good behavior. I thought Pres. Kimball was just cool like that. I didn't understand what General Conference was until I left home and moved to Utah. Now it is something that I look forward to every six months, like a present I can't wait to open. This year seemed especially special celebrating Easter and General Conference on the same weekend.

I have to admit Easter snuck up on me. We never dyed Easter eggs. We had our Easter baskets and Easter egg hunt on Sunday, which I never do. Well, now I can't say never. But, I usually do all the commercial Easter stuff on Saturday, and reserve Sunday for the true purpose of Easter. It still worked out just fine. I was short a few items for our Easter feast so instead of mashed potato's we had potato chips. (No Kidding) Saturday night when I realized I needed a few things from the store I started to panic. I knew I would have to go to store or things wouldn't be just right. But then I decided that things didn't have to be just right and we could improvise. I actually loved that I didn't spend the day rushing around cooking and cleaning. It was much more relaxed and so enjoyable.

I hope all of you had an awesome weekend too!

Hooray for being flexible. Ours was kind of like that too. Happy Easter to you!

I love thinking about Conference like a present to open. Good thought. Your kids are awesome!

I can't believe your kids let you get away with not dyeing eggs. Mine were asking every day for a week. I agree with the being more flexible part. Sometimes I think we as moms kill ourselves for no reason. Glad you just let yourself have a break. ;-)
